Pain Control

Pain, a part of our life from young age, progressively increases in intensity and severity as we get older. The state laws of Michigan about “optimal pain control,” have encouraged patients’ use of pain medicines. Physicians now prescribe more pain medicines than they have done in the past. Narcotic dependence and even addiction is the result.

As scientists have learned more about the nature of light and its positive effects on the body, new techniques and devices have been developed to use light as part of the healing process. This is referred to as low-level laser therapy or Phototherapy. This is just the very beginning of the usefulness of laser light and energy. The photo therapy uses light energy to stimulate the body’s natural healing process, much as the same way the plants use sun energy for photo synthesis.

What is Phototherapy?

Phototherapy is a highly effective light or low level laser treatment that offers patients faster healing from injuries and reduced pain, without the use of drugs or invasive surgeries. Originally developed over 40 years ago, this remarkable process uses light to penetrate the skin’s surface and underlying tissues to stimulate the body’s natural repair process, safely and easily. Experience the many benefits today!

What are the treatments like?
THOR and MedX Phototherapy devices are positioned directly on the skin while gentle pressure is applied. Generally there is no discomfort or sensation associated with the treatments. Therapeutic light energy, which can be produced by low level lasers or super luminous diodes, penetrates the skin safely and effectively, with no known side effects. Patients are relaxed and comfortable during the sessions, while one or more areas can be treated simultaneously. As well, Phototherapy sessions are fast for added convenience, with the average treatment taking between 2 and 10 minutes.

Is Phototherapy safe?
More than 2,500 published papers and hundreds of scientific studies have proven that Phototherapy is a safe, and highly effective way to treat a variety of conditions. Phototherapy has also gone through a stringent regulatory process, and has been deemed safe by the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration). At this time there are no known published articles on significant negative side effects.

Is Phototherapy the only treatment required for healing?
Phototherapy can be used as a single therapy or in combination with other treatments, such as acupuncture, ultrasound yoga and massage therapy.
